The Kotpad towels are more than everyday textiles they are a living testament to the Mirgan community of Kotpad in southern Odisha and Bastar in Chhattisgarh, who have woven their heritage into every thread. Handcrafted on traditional pit looms, each towel carries subtle irregularities that reveal the careful, human touch behind its creation. The cotton and tussar silk yarns are patiently prepared and dyed with natural, vegetable-based pigments, producing earthy reds, browns, and blacks that reflect the landscapes and rhythms of tribal life.
The motifs woven into the fabric are drawn from local surroundings and tribal art, connecting each towel to the stories and environment of its makers. This slow, chemical-free dyeing process, often taking weeks, ensures every color and pattern is unique anchoring the towel not just in function, but in the lineage of a craft honed over generations.
Softening with every wash, Kotpad towels are designed to last, carrying warmth, texture, and memory through time. They are more than objects; they are heirlooms of culture and skill, woven to be cherished, lived with, and handed down through generations.
